Lutheran Church
Lutheran Church was founded by Martin Luther in 1517. The split was between the Lutherans and the Roman Catholics. Church of England/Anglican
Church of England/Anglican was founded in England on 1534 by Thomas Cranmer & Augustine of Canterbury. The Church split from the Roman Catholic Church. The disagreement's source was Henry demanded that a number of laws are established in 1534 to separate the English church from the Roman hierarchy and establish the English monarch as the head of the English church after Pope Clement VII rejected Henry's request for the annulment of his marriage to Catherine of Aragon. -
Bapist
The Baptist Church was founded in 1638. Roger Williams and John Clarke. Williams and Clarke started Baptist churches in Providence, Rhode Island, and Newport. They split from The American Baptists at this time and were divided between pro- and anti-missionaries. Methodist
Year of foundation: February 28, 1784
Founders: John Wesley
Who they split from: Methodism originated as a revival movement within the 18th-century Church of England and became a separate denomination after Wesley's death.
Reason for the split: Wesley wanted the Methodist Society to remain in the Church of England forever, but tensions with Anglicans were frequent. The Bishop of London declined to ordain a Methodist for the United States in 1784. -
Presbyterian
Year of foundation: 1807
Founders: Presbyterianism originated in the 16th-century Protestant Reformation and the teachings of John Calvin of Switzerland and John Knox of Scotland.
Split from: The southern churches were asked to pledge "unabated loyalty" to the federal government. They refused and formed the Presbyterian Church in the Confederate States of America.
Reason for the split: The split in American Presbyterianism occurred in 1861 when the country was engulfed in civil war. -
Uniting Church
Year of foundation: 22 June 1977
Founders: UCA was formed as a union of three churches: the Congregational Union of Australia, the Methodist Church of Australasia and the Presbyterian Church of Australia.
Split from: When most congregations of the Methodist Church of Australasia, about two-thirds of the Presbyterian Church of Australia and almost all the churches of the Congregational Union of Australia united under the Basis of Union -
