Chris was born on Febuary 12th, 1968. He was born in El Segundo, California to his parents Walt and Billie McCandless. He also had a younger sister named Carine. Chris Graduates from Emory University
Chris graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated with the GPA of a 3.72 as a history and anthropology major. Chris abandons his car and other posessions
Chris abandoned his Datsun in Detrital Wash, Arizona. He abandons his car due to a flash flood that ruined his car and engine. So he left his car and his posesions including about 4 dollars in change, a football, guitar, fishing rod, and a garbage bag filled with old clothes. So he packed up the important things and set out of his journey on foot.

Slab City
Chris lives in the Slabs with Jan and Bob, and all of the other drifters. He lives there for about a week. Jan and Bob give him clothes and supplies for the Alaskian wilderness and he takes them but once he leaves gives them back. Chris did not want to make them feel bad, but he didn't want the help.

Goes to Stampede Trail
Chris is picked up by Jim Gallien on the highway. Jim drives him 3 hours to Stampede Trail. Once they got to his destination, Jim gave Chris a pair of boots and his sandwhich before he left for his journey. "Magic Bus Day"
Chris finds an old empty bus beside the Sushana River. This bus becomes his home for most of his time in Alaska. He refers to this day as "Magic Bus Day" in his journal, and is very happy that he found this bus to life in.

Chris kills a moose

Bad Meat
The moose that Chris killed and was proud of has turned bad. Chris left his meat in a hole in the side of the hill to try and smoke it. Although, something went wrong and the maggots got to it and ruined all of the meat he had. Chris was very disappointed cause he did not get to eat the meat, so he just left it for the wolves to eat.

Day 100!
Chris made it to day 100 and is very proud. He writes, "DAY 100! MADE IT!" and "BUT IN WEAKEST CONDITION OF MY LIFE. DEATH LOOMS AS SERIOUS THREAT". So this is a very big accomplishment but at the same time, it is very sad becasue he is very sick.

S.O.S. note
Chris writes this S.O.S. note and puts it on the bus door. He writes this note to tell anyone that comes by that he needs help and is very sick. He also writes his last journal entry, "Beautiful Blueberries", talking about the last food he ate.

Chris Dies
Chris has died in his bus in his sleeping bag. He has died from starvation and being too weak. He knew that his journey was over and that was his end, so he took this picture as his last one. http://www.newyorker.com/books/page-turner/how-chris-mccandless-died -
Chris's body discovered
Chris McCandless's body was discovered by Hikers. It was found in the bus in the sleeping bag, about 19 days after his death. They also find the S.O.S. note, and so they get back to town and tell the police what they found and where. The police were airlifted in and searched the bus for information about who the body was and why he was there.
