Yuan Dynasty
The Yuan Dynasty was started by Kublai Khan, grandson of Genghis Khan. He conquered China for the Mongols and created a Mongolian dynasty in China. -

Painted by Wu Zhen, one of the Yuan Dynasty’s “Four Masters”. The piece was symbolic of the Chinese staying strong against the Mongolians, like bamboo (which would bend but not break). -

Zhu Yuanzhang drove out the emperor of the Yuan dynasty, returning control of China to China. -

“The Studio of Gratifying Discourse”
Like the previous Ming, the Qing dynasty attempted to bring back the bureaucratic political structure of the Tang and Song dynasties. Confucianism was therefore a major philosophy of the time, and the civil service exams were reinstated into Chinese government.
