Neolithic cultures
Around 5000 BCE, in many of the river valleys of today's China, Neolithic cultures emerged. People grew crops, made pottery, textiles, and lived in permanent villages. The south was the most important food staple. -
2000 BCE
Xia Dynasty
In the late Neolithic period (3000-2000 BCE), was a time of increased contact between communities. Around 2000 BCE, at Erlitou, in the Yellow River Valley, Civilization emerged whose people learned to cast bronze, which they used to vessels for ritual feasting and drinking. Erlitou is often associated with China's semi mythical Xia Dynasty. -
1600 BCE
Shang Dynasty
The Shang State was a bronze age civilization, which emerged around 1600 BCE in the central plain of north China. Shang Cities had palaces, temples, housing areas for upper classes and commoners, as well as craft workshops for metal workers, potters, and stone carvers, and burial grounds. It is thought that the first Shang cities is near modern day city of Shangqui. -
1046 BCE
Battle of Mu Ye
The Shang constantly campaigned against rivals at their frontiers. Conflict between the Zhou and Shang continued to increase, until the Zhou created alliances with many other states. In 1046 BCE they defeated the Shang. -
1000 BCE
Daoism
Laozi, is a legendary who is thought to be the founder of Daoism. He is originally thought to have lived in the sixth century, in the Spring and Autumn periods. Laozi was a wise official at the Zhou court. -
800 BCE
Zhou Dynasty
Zhou was a state that was based in the Wei River valley in Northwest China, near today's city of Xi'an. The first of the first three rulers was King Wen of Zhou, who formed alliances with neighboring states. Zhou Kings sent out their relatives and trusted subordinates to establish walled garrisons in their new territories, by 800 BCE they had around 200 vassal fiefdoms around Zhou land. -
551 BCE
Confucius
During the Spring and Autumn period of the Zhou dynasty, there were many states across China, where there was many conflict. Confucius was one of the men that spent time at the court of the state of Lu where we was born, in northeast China. He tried to persuade people to do good, and accept traditional roles. -
475 BCE
Legalism
Legalism of Chinese Philosophy attained prominence during the turbulent Warring states era around 475 BCE. This was through the influence of the philosophers Shang Yang, Li Si, and Hanfeizi. The three main precepts of these legalist are the strict application of widely publicized laws. -
221 BCE
First Emperor
Qin Shihuangdi, one of the most important figures in China's history , he had become the first emperor of Qin and had later become king of the state of Qin. Qin's army defeated all of the other states. In 221 BCE, he united the states and established the China much known today and declared himself the first emperor.

Buddhism
