Chinese Inventions
During the Tang Dynasty, the Chinese started making steel by mixing cast iron and wrought iron in a blast furnace. The steel was used to make swords and sickles. Gunpowder was also created during the Tang Dynasty, as well as the fire-lance. -

Marco Polo visits China, and Chinese Society
Marco Polo visited China in the late 1200's, calling it the wealthiest city on Earth. For the rich, they could enjoy playing cards and chess, horseback riding, and paddleboat riding. Most Chinese people still lived off of the land, however. few woman had any power, except for Wu Zhao, who became the second Tang emperor. -

The Mongols take over the Song Dynasty
Kublai Khan completed the long quest to complete the conquest of the Song, and started a new Chinese dynasty called the Yuan. Established the capitat at Khanbalik. -
Chinese Government
The era between the Sui and Song Dynasties lasted nearly 700 years, and saw the beginning of a political system. A mature political system based upon principles from the Qin and Han Dynasties. Cufican ideas were still the cement that held everything together. -
China Reunified
China was reunified under the Sui Dynasty after three-hundred years of disorder and civil war. Sui Dynasty didn't last long, but helped unify the country. -
The Tang Dynasty
The Tang Dynasty lasted for three hundred years, from 618 to 907. New rulers tries to make reforms, giving land to peasants and breaking up the power of large estates. Worked hard to restore the power of China in East Asia. Rebellions and unrest led to the fall of the Tang Dynasty in 907. -
The Song Dynasty
The Song Dynasty ruled through a time of economic prosperity and cultural achievement. The Song Dynasty had problems with the Mongols in the North, and that forced them to abandon Tibet. The Song could never overcome the Mongol threat, and in 70 years they controlled all of China and forced the Song to make an alliance with them. -
