The Silk Road (206BC-220AD) was originally opened up by Zhang Qian in the west during the Han Dynasty. It was an international trade route as well as a cultural bridge for China. Because silk was the most extravagant fabric and exclusively made in China, the route for exchange was named The Silk Road. It expanded to the east in 25AD and lasted throughout the Han Dynasty and carried on to the Yuan Dynasty.

The Jin Dynasty was a conquest between AD 265 to 420. The Jin Dynasty ended the Three Kingdoms conflict (AD 220- 280). It would later be divided East and West Jin Dynasties, however, the Western Jin Dynasty collapse after experiencing a civil war followed by a rebellion. The Xiongnu Rebellion defeated the Western Jin Dynasty in 304. The culture of the Jin Dynasty shaped modern Chinese pottery and the heavy use of Jade.
