The modern cotton gin in the untied states was created by Eli Whitney. Whitney had applied for a patent in 1793, but the patent wasn't granted until 1794, and in 1807 it was finally validated. -

Georgia Legislative members were bribed of $500,000 in 1795, for selling land which is now made up of Mississippi. -
