  • University of Georgia founded

    The first university set by a state government.
  • Eli Whitney & the Cotton Gin

    The modern cotton gin in the untied states was created by Eli Whitney. Whitney had applied for a patent in 1793, but the patent wasn't granted until 1794, and in 1807 it was finally validated.
  • Yazoo Land Fraud

    Georgia Legislative members were bribed of $500,000 in 1795, for selling land which is now made up of Mississippi.
  • Capital moved to Louisville

    The fourth capital in the state of Georgia.
  • Missouri Compromise

    Declared the District of Maine a free state, and Missouri territory w/o the restriction of slavery.

    The second largest gold rush in the United Sates, it spread fast to northern states as well.

    The fourteenth amendment granted all persons born or naturalized in the US, a US Citizen. It included former slaves that had been freed by the 13th as well.
