Chasing Lincoln's Killer

  • The Arrival of a Deadman

    8:00pm. The Lincolns, Abraham and Mary, arrived at Ford's Theatre for the play, "Our American Cousin". This was not the exact time, as they were late with all of Abraham's work.
  • The Shot Heard Around the Theater

    The Shot Heard Around the Theater
    10:13pm. Abraham Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth, who had snuck into his box during the theater whilst no one was paying attention. The shot was barely heard by the audience, with the laughter from the play raging on, Booth shot with his .44-caliber Deringer pistol at the President, the bullet hitting his head and digging into the brain.
  • Stalkers at the Seward Home

    10:00pm (ish). Lewis Powell and David Herold ride their horses to Secretary of State Seward's home, where Powell was to murder him and Herold was to wait. Powell disguised himself as a doctor's messanger and was let into the house. He stubbornly stomped his way up to Seward's room, where, from a terrible carrige accident, he was laying in bed. Powell attacked Seward, fighting off the military doctor and Seward's daughter in the process.
  • The Assassin Escapes his Own Territory

    10:35 - 10:45pm. Booth has shot the president. He stands his final performance on the stage and shouts his last line, "Sic semper tyrannis!" and he bolted from the stage. Major Joseph Stewart rose from he seat to chase Booth, but Booth had already won.
  • The Killers Catch Up/Lincoln Relocates

    11:00pm. Herold meets Booth in Maryland, after crosssing the bridge. They catch up on their adventures. Meanwhile, Lincoln is treated - more or less - and Dr. Leale orders him onto the street and out of the theater. Nearby, William Petersen's boardinghouse welcomes the dying president to spend his last few minutes on a bed.
  • His Death

    7:22am. Abraham Lincoln died inside the Petersen house.
  • Mudd Proves a Clean Ally

    Mudd Proves a Clean Ally
    Late night/Early morning. Booth and Herold have reached Mudd's farmhouse and pursued his assistance. He aids them well.
  • Accept the Help of All (Even if you're racist)

    After midnight. Booth and Herold paid a black man to take them to Cox, a man who will help them get across the river and aid them. Though Booth does not like blacks.
  • Atzerodt Seals His Fate

    George Atzerodt flees to a nearby cousin and someone jokes to him, "Are you the man that killed Lincoln?", startling the conspirator. He laughs and says, "Yes." then tells of how Seward had been killed. Later, someone reports this to the police and Atzerodt is later found and hanged.
  • Thomas Jones, the Average Assassin Hero

    Morning. Cox meets with Thomas Jones, a man who will help Booth and Herold greatly. He feeds them and hides them, bringing them supplies. They later almost get caught by soldiers, and then kill their horses and plan to get across the river.
  • Mary Surratt Becomes Rather Worried

    Manhunters search the Surratt's boarding house again, and pressure her and her daughter into giving up information.
  • Our Beloved President Rests Too Soon

    Our Beloved President Rests Too Soon
    Abraham Lincoln's funeral. Thousands gather to watch his casket roam the US and show his dead face.
  • Booth and Herold Escape Once Again

    On April 20, the guards and manhunters leave Jones' city. He excitedly tells the assassins, and they borrow his boat and sail away, avoiding capture once more.
  • Mudd Is Questioned and Reveals

    Mudd is questioned by the police, and this time he hints at little truths and throws in a few lies. He does, however, tell the police that he had helped John Wilkes Booth, not recognizing Lincoln's killer.
  • Atzerodt is Caught & a Snitch

    Atzerodt is Caught & a Snitch
    Atzerodt gets found and caught by the manhunters, and he confesses everything about the crime and before it, too. He admits to having been apart of it, but he denies having killed anyone.
  • The Assassins' Mistake

    Booth and Herold sail, but they sail in the wrong direction. They accidentally go back to Maryland, while Jones is arrested and taken in for questioning.They go to one of Herold's old friends and are fed and taken care of. Then they planned to sail across the Potomac.
  • River VS Assassins

    Booth and Herold finally set out onto the Potomac River, towards Virginia.
  • He Who Steps On Virginia Soil

    Booth and Herold finally land in Virginia, nine days after the assassination, they have made it. They then meet with an old Confederate spy, Mrs. Quesenberry.
  • Booth and Herold Find Refuge at a Farm

    Just as the title says; Booth and Herold find refuge in a farm. They convince some confederate soldiers to help them. They take them across the Potomac River, and they are officially in Virginia. They seek shelter at the Garret's' farm.
  • The Assassins: Cornered

    Booth and Herold are betrayed and spend the night in the Garretts' tobacco barn. While they sleep, Garrett locks them inside. Soon, the Union calvary surround the house and Garrett reveals their location. They are trapped.
  • The Death of a Killer

    The Death of a Killer
    Corbett finally shoots Booth, after Herold surrendering and the barn being lit on fire. Booth dies on the Garrett farm as he looks at his hands, whispering, "Useless, useless."
  • Those Who Conspire Are Those Who Die

    Those Who Conspire Are Those Who Die
    1:26pm. Mary Surratt, David Herold, Lewis Powell, and George Atzerodt are hung. The hunt for Lincoln's killers is over.
