Birth Date: Lyon, France
My name is Charles Vincent. I am the middle child of 3. I have an older brother, Javert, and a younger sister, Anna. We lived in a small house. We were very poor. Though we did not have any money we still managed. My parents wanted to make sure me and my siblings had a better life, so they planned a trip to go to America when we had the money and after my sister was born, for safety reasons. At the age of 4 I will take a trip that will change my life forever -
Trip to America
For more information: As soon as we got to Ellis Island we were examined by doctors. Then my mother and sister were sent to a area where only girls went. While in Ellis Island my mother got collera and died, leaving our family on our own. As soon as we were out of Ellis Island we were bombarded by political bosses and they told my father that they'll give us all the supplies we needed to live if we voted for them. -
Gold Rush
As soon as we were in America, my father heard some people over talking about gold in California. He told me and my siblings that we are moving to California. When I asked why my father replied with a big smile and said "We're going to be rich". Me and my siblings were very excited for our journey. It took us months to get there, and when we finally did get there we didn't get any gold. My father was upset, and was mad that we wasted are time for nothing. After we rested we began to go back. -
The Civil War Has Started
We were living a peaceful life, when all of the sudden tragedy struck. The Civil War started and my father and brother were enlisted in the Union Army. I was left alone to take care of my younger sister. The worst day of lives happened during the Civil War, we had recieved a telegram that our father and brother where both shot and killed in combat. I knew at that moment it was up to me to get a job to support what's left of our family. Anna also helped by cooking and cleaning when I worked. -
Rail Roads
Now that my father and brother died it was up to me to get a job and suport my little sister. I started working on rail roads. My sister knew it was a dangerous job and had tried to talk me out of it, but I told her that we needed money. Luckily for me I never had to go near an explosive. All I did was work on putting down the tracks and nailing them down so they wouldn't slide or anything like that. I tried my best to get a lot of money. I just didn't get paid enough, so I had to work longer. -
The Statue of Liberty
I woke up in the morning and grabbed my newspaper. It said that France had dedicated a statue to America. I chuckled at the thought of my countrey giving my new country a gift. So to honor my new country I desided to go down and take a look at the girl. She was as big as anything I had ever saw, and since she wasn't done yet I knew she would gt even bigger. They just needed to get the top of her done. Though she wasn't finished she was a beauty,
