This intellectual renewal allowed for the spread of information and the seeking out of information. Given that books were expensive only people such as kings could afford the books and that made for a more informed and knowledgable king in comparison to every normal person underneath him. -

Charlemagne was an all-around great king that made peace with other surrounding kings and eventually led him to become the Emperor of Rome as well. He gave an example of how a king could become more powerful through diplomacy and battles. -

The church really wanted people to only be married to one person and have that marriage last forever. When the church achieved this the Pope undoubtedly became more powerful and was looked at more often to see what was right and what was wrong. -

Charlemagne was crowned the Roman Emperor by Pope Leo III which in turn increased the power of them both. With this act Charlemagne's predecessors became much more powerful and had increased amounts of land to rule. -

The weak central government at times allowed for Vassalage to form and become a thing. When this happened the Kings became more powerful because they were also gaining knights to fight for himself. The attacks by the Muslims, Magyars, and Vikings pushed a form of structure upon all people in the Middle Ages. -

Te gothic Cathedrals were a building that was constructed by an entire community. The building and labor had to be funded and that was done so from all classes of people. So when the Kings gave to the building they were probably viewed in a positive light by the people since they all had a common goal. -

With the revival of trade, the kings became much richer because they were able to tax trades that were steadily increasing. That practice of taxation of trade spread and gave the Kings and Popes more power. -

Aristocratic Marriage
With Aristocratic marriage, the families of great kings would marry their children with other people of high status to increase the wealth and status of themselves. Sometimes the Kings would even marry their own children to stay powerful and "pure".
