Standards aren't made to be too easy for a child but not too unrealistic that a child couldn't reach them. Standards are flexible and responsive to all families and children and they are made to recognize differences in cultures and individuals.

    The No Child Left Behind Act was passed in the United States. This legislation mandates that all public schools receiving federal funding must conduct an annual statewide standardized test for all students. Also, it mandates the production of an annual report card to track progress and emphasizes the necessity of highly qualified teachers who meet specified minimum qualifications for all students.
