    Columbus comes upon a new world

    On that day was when Columbus and his crew stumbled upon an island in the Bahamas. This discovery eventually led to four new continents being discovered.
  • Jun 7, 1494

    Treaty of Tordesillas

    This treaty divided the territories between Spain and Portugal.

  • England defeats the Spanish Armada

    The Spanish Armadas lose against England marked the beginning of the end for Spains imperial dreams. Englands defeat over the Spanish ensured England's naval dominance in the North Atlantic.

  • Jamestown

    In late 1606 Virginia Company's three ships landed near Chesapeake bay, where the Indians attacked them. On May 24th, 1607 about a hundred English settlers disembarked on a mosquito-infested site and called it Jamestown in honor of their king.

  • Africans arrive in Jamestown

    In 1619 the first africans arrive in Jamestown, planting the seeds of the North American slave system.

  • Pope's Rebellion

    By this time the Spanish had already conquered Central and South America, and Mexico. This rebellion was an uprising from the indigenous people against the Spanish colonizers in the province of Santa Fe, present day New Mexico.
