    The War of Spanish Succession
    A European struggle fought in efforts to obtain control of the continent. This war prevented Spain and France from becoming united.
  • The French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War
    Also known as the Seven Years War, was a conflict among Great Britain and France in efforts to gain control over North America. The British empire eventually crushed the French empire and since gained that control.

  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    At this time, the Seven Year's War had ended. With a victorious win came a massive debt with the British Empire. In efforts to overcome this debt, enforced tax was implemented in efforts to supply food and supplies to the British army.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act
    A marketable attempt to monopolize tea sales in effort to allow lowered prices to some countries. This effort caused the inflation of sales to American Colonists allotting more financial expenses. The protesting of tea taxation eventually led to the Boston Tea Party.

  • The Three Fifths Compromise

    The Three Fifths Compromise
    Taxation by this time was in full fling and states were deciding how each would contribute financially. Slavery was prominent. With very little devotion to assuming slaves as an actual person, the Compromise between the Southern and Northern states allowed the population of slaves to be considered three fifths of a white man with taxation.

    Also known as the second war of American independence, the United States endured a final battle for its independence from Great Britain after attempts to restrict U.S. trade.
