    Plessy v. Ferguson
    The landmark case Plessy v. Ferguson was significant because it showed that racial segregation was constitutional - 'separate but equal' was what they used to call it. Although the interpretation would be equality, the ruling of this case resulted in Jim Crow laws expanding across the US.

    Brown v. Board of Education
    The 'separate but equal' doctrine was accepted and conformed to until this case. The father of a young black girl was the initiating factor in desegregating schools.He had the gall to question why his daughter wasn't able to attend white schools and in turn, ended up having the supreme court overturn the ruling of Plessy v. Ferguson and officially desegregate schools.
