Cell Theory Historical Timeline

  • 1559

    Hans and Zacharias Jansses

    Hans and Zacharias Jansses
-They were famous for coming up with the compound microscope, this microscope helped make it easier and to get more particles to observe cells
-The only thing that is difference from a regular microscope and their compound microscope is ... Well it is that the compound microscope has convex lenses and in a tube
-Their cell theory was the first discovered after they had developed the microscope
  • Period: 1559 to

    The theorys of CELLLS

    Questions:
    1. What theory did these scientist provide evidence for ?
    Cell theory
2.What instrument was necessary before the cell theory could be developed?
    Microscope
3.Which three scientist directly contributed evidence for the cell theory?
Theodor Schwann,Rudolf Virchow, and Robert Hooke
4.How did the earlier scientist and their contributions directly affect the discoveries/developments of later scientist?
First they had to make a microscope.
  • Robert Hooke

    Robert Hooke
-Robert was looking at a cutting cork he notices some spaces being contained by walls, and thought it was either a cell or a pore
-Robert did some math and figured out that the number of cells in a cubic inch is 1,259,712,000
-Later on Robert found him self studying plants and thought up the idea of cells
~Fun fact this the biggest and the most important contribution to the cell theory because if Robert didn't figure that out we probably wouldn't no about cell untill 100 years later
  • Anton van Leeuwenhoke

    Anton van Leeuwenhoke
-Anton improved and built microscopes.Anton also studies pound water and surprisingly discovered single-cell organisms (animalcules).
    - He discovered bacteria in 1683 from his mouths saliva
-He then used a microscope to see the organism, bacteria, and blood cells.
  • Matthias Schleiden

    Matthias Schleiden
-Matthias discovered that plants were made up of cells
-he wrote many contribution to phytogenesis , Which is where he stated that different parts are in a plant organism that are composed of cells
-Matthias created the cell theory which states: All living things are made up of one or more cells
  • Theodor schwann

    Theodor schwann
-Concluded that all animal tissues are made up of cells
    - He had made a lot contributions to the biology including developing to rules for the cell theory
-He concluded that fermentation was a biological process
  • Rudolph Virchow

    Rudolph Virchow
-Virchow stated that any diseases involve changes in a normal cell
    - He set out methods/objectives of pathology and showed that the cell theory applied to diseased tissue
    - He eventually came up with the idea that cells only come from existing cells, which is the third rule of the cell theory
  • Question 4 continued

Two the compound microscope.Three to improvement of the microscope and the studies of pounds. Four, the study of plants, then they studied animal tissue. lastly, they came up with the third rule by seeing that the cell theory applied to diseased tissue.
