Annexation of Sudetenland
Sudeten Germans wanted a push for independence from Czech. Led by Konrad Henlein, they used violent outbreaks and made their way into the Czech government with dominance in the Representatives. They convinced Britain and France that problem in the area would cause a war. A conference would be held in Muncih and it was deteremined that Czechoslavakia would be handed over to Germany.

Pearl Harbor
Japanese attackers led a air strike on the Naval base in Hawaii. Tojo Hideki already declared war on the US but did not tell them. Over half the naval fleet was destroyed while Japan used over 200 planes to do it. Over 2,000 were killed.

Japanese Internment Camps
Under executive order 9066, all Japanese Americans were to be placed in camps at a certain location. Around 120,000 were placed in the camps in fear of spies among the people. It violated the 1st amendment but the government was scared.

Battle of Midway
Naval battle in the pacific theater. First usage of aircraft carriers in an air sea battle in a span of 6 months. The US held their position at mid way island and pushed back the Japanese fleet. This stopped the eastward expansion for good

First major offensive and a decisive victory for the Allies in the Pacific theater. US launched surprise attack and took control of an airbase. Both sides endure heavy losses, Japan lost 2/3 of their troops on the island and retreated.

Philippines Campaign
Planned return of General Douglas Mac Arthur after 3 years of leaving the islands. Planned a series of offensive attacks at Levon and Manila. Japan on their retreat killed 100,000 civilians

Battle of Stalingrad
The Battle of Stalingrad was a military campaign between Russia and Nazi Germany and the Axis powers during World War II. From August 1942 to February 1943, more than two million troops fought. Thousands of civilians were killed in the fighting, Hitler wanted Stalingrad for propaganda purposes. But the Russians held Hitler off and began to choke the German forces in the winter time and eventually pushed them back.

Fall Of Berlin
Soviets took a final attack on Berlin by pouring in all they had into the fight. Hitler was trapped under a bunker while the city was under a barrage. They pursued on the city for weeks strangling the Germans in the city until they surrendered. One of last battles of the war.

Brought the end of the Nazi reign after the fall of berlin. Hitler said his empire would last 1,000 years. After the soviets closed in on his location, he put a bullet in his head and died in a bunker.

First city in history to have an atomic bomb dropped. The first atom bomb, ordered by Harry Truman, was flied out over the city. around 70-100,000 people died. the plane that flew out was the enola gay. -
Meeting at Potsdam
Final meeting between Britain, Russia and US.Truman was president at the time. Russia wanted unified control of Germany but they had to have no weapons. They ended up dividing Germany into sections for each country.
