Mexican federal constitution has a lot in common with the United States constitution, but looked most like the Spanish. The thing that wouldn't please Texans the most in this constitution was the law that everyone needed to be Catholic. -
Fredonian Rebellion
Dispute between Mexican government and the Edwards brothers. Haden Edwards, who was an empresario, was entitled to settle 800 families, but the ones that didn't have proof of ownership were forced to leave, because of this, Mexican gov. cancelled it. This angered Haden, and he created the Republic of Fredonia that was separated from Mexico. -
Mier y Teran Report
An scientific expedition was led by General Manuel de Mier y Teran, this expedition. It was in place to observe the natural resources, the Indians, and the number of Americans living in Texas. -
Guerrero Decree
The Guerrero Decree outlawed slavery in the Republic of Mexico, and it is said that it would slow the flow of American immigration, this could be because immigrants wanted slaves working for them and Mexico didn't allow it. -
Law of April 6, 1830
This law was designed to cut the flow of American immigrants short, that came soon after the Mier y Teran report. -
Conflict at Anahuac
When anglo settlers William Travis and Patrick Jack are arrested, it added to the many problems already occurring. When about 200 settlers went to rescue them, they were also captured in exchange for the originals captured. The commander Bradburn wouldn't give in, and his superior came in and relived Bradburn of duty.
