  • Egypt/Syria Agreement

    Egypt and Syria sign an agreement to support each other if war breaks out with Israel. This makes it clear that Egypt and Syria are expecting war with Israel, and they want to be as strong as possible when it happens.

  • Palestinian Fedayeen Attacks

    278 Israelis killed in Palestinian fedayeen attacks- 241 Israelis killed by Palestinian terrorists coming from Egyptian territory and 37 Israelis killed by terrorists coming from Jordanian territory. This is one of the early attacks on Israel, and this angers Israel and raises tensions between the three countries.

  • National Water Carrier Project

    Israel begins work on National Water Carrier Project- brings water from the Sea of Galilee to the Negev, through Arab territory.

  • Arab Leaders Unite to Plan Destruction of Israel

    Arab Leaders fear that the Water Carrier Project will strengthen Israel. They are also angry that it will be going through their water (Jordan River).

  • Tension at the Border

    Smaller military clashes at the border of Israel and it's surrounding countries. This goes on for a while, but nothing major occurs.

  • Withdrawal of UNEF

    Secretary General U Thant agrees to withdrawal of United Nations Emergency Force (peacekeeping force) from Sinai. Without a peacekeeping force, tensions are higher than ever.

  • Egypt Closes it's Water to Israel

    Egypt closes it's water to Israel and does not let Israel pass through the Jordan river. This angers Israel.

  • War Breaks Out

    Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon move their forces to Israeli border. War breaks out.
