Constitution of 1824
Constitutional government began in Texas with the Mexican federal Constitution of 1824, which was similar to the United States Constitution. Stephen F. Austin conferred with the Mexican leaders who created the constitution of 1824. -
Fredonian Rebellion
The Fredonian Rebellion was a fight between Haden and Benjamin Edwards and the Mexican government. Edwards attempted to gather a large amount of Anglo settlers in the DeWitt, Austin, and Deleon colonies, but failed. -
Mier y Teran Report
General Manuel de Mier y Teran was to lead a boundary and scientific expedition into Texas in 1827. In his report, he recommended that they need to try hard to stop the United States from gaining Texas. -
Guerrero Decree
President Vicente R. Guerrero stopped slavery throughout the Republic of Mexico. It it said he did this because it would be a check on American immigration. -
Law of April 6, 1830
Designed to stop too many immigrants to come from the US into Texas. Stephen F. Austin convinced the Mexican government to limit parts of the law. -
Conflict at Anahuac
William Travis' settlers organized a rescue force perhaps 200 men who reached Turtle Bayou six miles north of Anahuac on June 9, 1832 after he was arrested. -
Turtle Bayou Resolutions
Settlers opposed to the rule of John Davis Bradburn, a Mexican commander left the Anahuac north to the Turtle Bayou crossing. The Texas rebels sided with the Federalist cause by creating the Turtle Bayou Resolutions -
Battle at Valesco
The first case of bloodshed in the relations between Mexico and Texas. The Texans had about 100-150 troops, while the Mexicans had 91-200 -
Convention of 1832
Stephen F. Austin, who was the president of the convention, adopted of resolutions requesting to extend tariff exemptions, modify the Law of April 6, 1830, etc. -
Convention of 1833
Met at San Felipe, the day that Santa Anna took control over Texas. William H. Wharton lead the convention which petitioned against the anti-immigration section of the Law of April 6, 1830. Delegates also suggested to split Coahuila and Texas. -
SFA goes to Mexico City
Went to Mexico City to persuade the Mexican government to repel the Law of April 6, 1830, and to promise important reforms in the local Texas government. He was arrested under suspicion of trying to change the Mexican government. -

Used as a debate between the rival factions that wanted to continue relations with Mexico, and wanted to declare independance with Mexico
