    Invention of the Cotton Gin
    The Invention of the cotton gin was important because its invention made it possible for cotton to be made faster and a lot easier. To produce a lot cotton a lot of slaves were needed.
  • Missouri Compromise

    Missouri Compromise
    Missouri wanted to be added as a state but they didn't have another state to keep a balance. They fixed this problem bymaking Maine out of Massachusetts and added it as a free state. Missouri was then added as a slave state. But the most important part was that they also created the 36˚ 30˚ line, slavery could only exist south of that line.

    Compromise of 1850
    It was an important cause to the civil war because it created the fugitive slave law. California was ready to be a state but there wasn't another state ready to be added. The solution was that Caifornia would be added as a free state but the fugitive slave law was created so the south wasn't worried about laws againts slavery to be passed because there were more free states.

    Uncle Tom’s Cabin is s novel written by Harriet Becher Stowe. It is an important cause because it informed people about the harshness of slavery. It helped many people who were buying cotton from the slave states realize that the cotton they are using is a result of the labor of slaves.

    A law passed by Congress which let the Nebraska-Kansas Territory decide wether they wanted to be free states or slave states by Popular Sovereignty.The Republician Party was created because of the Kansas-Nebraska Act. This also cause there to be bloodshed over slavery.

    It was an important cause of the civil war because the Supreme Court ruled that slavery could exist anywhere and slaves couldn't become citizens.

    This was an important event because it could of had started a slave rebelion. To northerners John Brown was seen as a martyr. But to the people in the south he was a terrorist.

    It was important an important cause of the civil war because South Carolina was the first state to seceed from the nation. This influenced other slave states to secede from the nation. The all formed the CSA.

    His election was important because it was the reason why Southerners rebeled and started the civil war. They thought that Lincoln would abolish slavery. It angered them because the south's economy depended on cotton.
