Invention Of The Cotton Gin
This invention, made by Eli Whittney, was created to speed up the time it took to clean cotton. Because of this invention people were flocking to the south to become rich! But they needed people to do their labor for them. In result, slavery was GREATLY increased in the south! -
The Missouri Compromise
The missouri compromise was created in order to balance out slave and free states! They admitted Missouri in as a slave state, if Maine could be entered as a free state! This compromise also states that slaver can no longer be aloud above Missouris southern border. -
The Compromise of 1850
The compromise of 1850 was made, saying that there could be an upset of power in congress by making Califonia a free state. But in turn, the North must create something called the fugative slave law. -

When a slave sues that he is a free man because his "master" took him onto free soil. This case went all the way to the Supreme Court, but when they ruled, "If he is your master he will always be your master, no matter where he/she takes you", this pretty mush tells ALL slave owners that they can take there slaves and spread out wherever they want! Because their slaves will always be THEIR slaves! -

John Brown raided this arsenal in hopes of starting a slave rebellion in the South! Him and his 5 sons attacked and hy-jacked weapons for the rebel slaves, but the slaves in the state of Virginia stayed quite and obediant!
