    The war between the U.S. and the Mexico resulted in the defeat of Mexico, and moreover, half of their territory lost in the North.

    Texas ceased land in the dispute, but was given $10 million to pay their debt to Mexico after the war. This compromise was the reslut of the rising tensions after slave and free states were being thrown off balance again.
