Missouri Compromise of 1820
Henry Clay proposed that every state above the 36th parallel would be a free-soil state, and every state below the parallel would be a slave state. This compromise was only temporary, and made tensions grow larger, in both the north and the south. -
Compromise of 1850
Henry Clay proposed that Congress should Allow slavery to potentially grow above the Missouri Compromise line. The compromise attempted to limit slavery in certain parts of the US like Washington DC and California.
