The conflict involved Austria, England, France, Great Britain, Prussia, And Sweden and it was played out in Europe, India, and North America. The French and Indian War was the beginning of open hostilities between the colonies and Great Britain. -
Proclamation of 1763
The Royal Proclamation of 1763 was issued to declare boundaries for the 13 colonies to be Appalachia. It was issued so Native Americans wouldn’t be resentful. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was Parliament’s first serious attempt to assert governmental authority over the colonies. The Stamp Act was an act in which the British taxed paper products because of their debt from the Seven Years War. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was a street fight between patriots and British soldiers. The riot began when about 50 citizens attacked a British sentinel. The Boston Massacre was a signal event leading to the Revolutionary War. -
Tea Act
The Tea Act was passed because the British East India Company was on the brink of financial collapse. Therefore, Lord North decided to grant the British East India Company with a trading monopoly with the American colonies. That meant the tax on tea would be maintained, but the company would be able to sell its tea for a lower price than before. -
Boston Tea Party
In the Boston Tea Party, governor Thomas Hutchinson allowed three ship to carry tea to enter the Boston Harbor so they could tax the tea. Before they collected it, the Bostonian's, disguised as Native Americans, tossed 342 chests of tea into the water. The damage from the colonists were three quarters of a million dollars, and none of the East India Company tea reached its destination. -
Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts which was the Boston Port Act, Massachusetts Government Act, Administration of Justice Act, and the Quebec Act. The acts were made to punish the British for the Boston Tea Party in which colonists protested immediately. -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was basically a document that stated all Americans deserve independence, equal rights, and the right to separate from their king and create their own government.
