    The Proclamation of 1763 was signed by King George III. It prohibited any English settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains. It required people that were already settled in those regions, to return east. In an attempt to ease tension with the Native Americans.
  • The Sugar Act of 1764

    The Sugar Act was passed by parliament to pay for the war debt. The debt came from the French and Indian war. To help pay for the expenses of running the colonies and newly acquired territories.
  • The Stamp Act of 1764

    During March, the Stamp Act was passed by parliament. It was imposing the first direct tax on the colonies. For the first time in 150 years, old history from the British colonies in America will pay tax. It will not go to their local legislature in America, it will go straight to England.
  • Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act allowed the royal troops to stay in houses or empty buildings. Not only would the landowner have to let them stay at their home, but would also have to take care of them. This is only if the barracks were not available at the time.

    The Boston Massacre occurred when a mob started harassing British soldiers. The British fired their muskets point blank into the mob. It killed three instantly, injuring six, and mortally wounding two.

    December 16,1773, a group of men, calling themselves "Sons of Liberty" arrived at the Boston Harbor. They were dressed up as Mohawk Indians. Then they boarded three British ships, The Beaver, Eleanor, and the Dartmouth. They dumped forty five tons of tea in Boston Harbor.

    The British Parliament closed the Port of Boston in 1774. They closed the port until the price of the tea was recovered. They moved the Capitol of Massachusetts to Salem. They made marble head the port of entry for the Massachusetts colony.

    Impartial Administration of Justice Act
    The Impartial Administration of Justice Act allowed the Royal governor of that colony to move trials to another colony. The Royal Governor could even move the trial to England if he feared juries in that colony wouldn't judge the case fairly.
  • Massachusetts Regulating Act

    Massachusetts Regulating Act
    The Massachusetts Regulating Act took power away from the citizens of Massachusetts. It forced all law officers to be appointed by the Royal Government. It also banned town meetings without approval from the Royal Government.

    The Quebec Act granted civil government and religious freedom. A civil government is made by the citizens. This applied to all Catholic people living in Quebec. Before, they could not choose their religion, but now they can.
