  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation line of 1763 was a boundary in the Appalachian Mountains. It stated anything west of the Appalachian Mountains was forbidden from settling land. This lowered the tensions with the Natives.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was a revenue-raising act passed by Great Britain. The Sugar Act made the cost of molasses go from 6 pence to 3 pence per gallon. The act made foreign goods be taxed like sugar, certain wines and coffee etc.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    On March 22, 1765, the British passed the Stamp act. They passed this because it was supposed to help pay for British troops stationed in the colonies during the Seven Years' War. The act made colonists pay tax represented by a stamp, on forms of paper, documents, and playing cards.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre started as an angry riot started throwing rocks at soldiers and saying bad things to them. The British soldiers then shot five people in the crowd. Then one British soldier later fired his gun without permission and that made the other British soldiers fire their guns. The gunfire killed 3 people and wounded 8.

    The Boston tea party was a protest by the Sons of Liberty. They did this because of the tea act. It allowed people from the British East India Company to sell tea from China in America without paying any tax. Some of the protesters disguised as Indigenous Americans and destroyed an entire shipment of tea from the East India Company.
  • Boston Port Act

    Boston Port Act
    This Act closed the port from all commerce. This also made the citizens of Boston pay a fine for dumping all the tea in the river. This act helped make the 13 colonies come closer in anger.
  • Massachusetts Government Act

    Massachusetts Government Act
    The Massachusetts Government Act was made to realign the power of the local government. This gave more power to the governor and less to the colonists. It also changed the status of electing government officials and made it so only the British can choose the officials.
  • Administration of Justice Act

    Administration of Justice Act
    The Administration of Justice Act was designed to make law and order in the province better. It also ensured British officials to have a fair trial who were charged with capital offenses. The offences were protesting in the Massachusetts Bay Colony.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The Quartering Act made American colonies provide food, drinks, quarters, fuel, and transportation and transportation to British forces stationed in their towns or villages. This effected the colonies by having additional financial responsibilities for the soldiers. After the French and Indian war it was expensive for the British so they made the soldiers stay in America and make the colonies pay for their housing and food.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    The British Parliament passed the Quebec Act in 1774. It stated that French Canadians do not have to say the loyalty oath any more. In effect this gave Roman Catholics more rights.
