Causes of the American Revolution

  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    A feud began between France and Britain over the Ohio River Valley France had won earlier battles but, Britain won after later battles, and ended year 1763 Britain won. The war lasted seven years and then the British were in a lot of debt from this.This created some tension between the colonist and England.
  • The Proclamation Line Of 1763

    The Proclamation Line Of 1763
    After the war the British created a physical border the" Appalachian mountains" that separated the colonist from the newly won land " Ohio River Vally they did this so no war would appear with the natives because they couldn't afford another fight .
  • Stamp Act

    England belied that the colonist should pay for the debt of the war so they required that a stamp to be placed on all important documents and again the colonist were outraged because they still had no say in Parliament .

    The British parliament passed a law that required colonist to pay $.3 on foreign refined sugar the colonist were outraged because they had no say or vote in parliament.

    The British put tax on everything imported from England the colonist boycotted these items and they took away all the tax except tea. The items were paper, paint, glass, tea .

    On this night at 9'o clock a crowed of colonist confronted eight British soldiers, the colonist egged on the British to fight, the captain yelled hold your fire then when the smoke cleared five colonist dead.

    The England government was so outraged they made these laws to punish the colonist and they were...The Boston harbor closed then any British soldier could go to England for trial then the colonist had to feed and welcome the solders into there homes then the colonist had no right to govern themselves

    A delegated from each colonies besides Georgia discussed the current crisis with England and expressed there outraged and sent a letter to king George III saying it is unfair to tax them .

    Battles Of Lexington And Concord
    60 divers men stood there ground until the shot that was heard around the world was fired after the smoke cleared 8 dead 10 wounded . The British wanted to take there weapons away so they went to where they were hiding there weapons but , the rebels got there first and took most of the stock. After this the British went to Boston and the Rebels had 100 more men to fight the men used guerrilla warfare and when they did this 1/3 of the British were dead .
