End of the French & Indian War
The French & Indian colonies were fighting for land.The British faught theFresch & their indian allies. This was also known as the Seven Years War. Britsih won this war by blockading the French boats to stop the dilivery of weapons to the Indians. The Indaians soon abandoned their posts to get these items that were never cxoming and the British gained controll of winning the war. Soon after the French had lost and the Birtish sent them out of North America. -
Sugar Act
The sugar act had reduced taxes on the molasses. It was inforced so colonist had paid more taxes.It also increased taxes on coffee, indigo, and wine. The British government did not give the colonists any permission to do this. -
Stamp Act
The stamp act was taxes put on printed items. It had put a fee on all printed materials, such as legal documents and newspapers.This was the first time that Parliament had opposed of direct tax within the colonies. -
Quartering Act
Britain maintained the army and the colonies. This requried colonial assemblies to house and the soldiers. This was designed to force colonial government to provide provisions and houses for british soldeirs in thw 13 colonies. -
Declaratory Act
This repelled the Stamp Act but asserted Parailment's right's to rule. It raised no new tax, placed no restriction or requisition on the colonial assemblies. The Declaratory Act was simply a proclamation that reinforced parliament’s law-making power over the American colonies. -
Townshend Act
It imported taxes on a variety of goods that were collected for royl officials in the colonies.This removed the responsibilty from the colonial assmeblies.The were avoided that all the taxes were repelled except the one on tea. -
Boston Massacre
British soldiers killed 5 colonist in Boston.It led directly to the Royal Governor occupying the army from the town of Boston. It would soon bring the revolution to armed rebellion throughout the colonies. -
Tea Act
This was created to save the East Indian Tea company. It lowered the price of tea and gave the company a monopoly. Then threatened the bussiness of colonial importers. -
Intolerable Acts
This was lost that were meant to force massachusetts to pay for the tea destroyed in the Boston Tea party. The laws closed the Boston Harbor and forced colonist to house British soldiers in their home. -
The Battle of Lexington & Concord
It started the American Revolutionary War from (1775-83). This was a battle between the 13 colonies and the British authorities and particularly in Massachusetts. In 1783 the colonist formally won their independence.
