The Navigation Act was a series of acts that restricted colonial trade with Britain. This enriched the British but upset the colonists. -

French and Indian War
The French and Indian war was a battle between the French and British. The Native American teamed up with the French because they were more respectful. The French looked like they were winning but towards the end, the colonists and British took the victory. -
Proclamation of 1763
The Proclamation of 1763 prohibited colonists from settling West in the Appalachian Mountains. This was disliked by the colonists. -
Sugar Acts
The British taxed molasses(syrup) and sugar. This angered the colonists with provisions. People started boycotting. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act put taxes on all legal documents and printed paper. This caused the stamp agents to get tarred and feathered. -
Quartering Act
Britain asked the colonists to host 1500 soldiers. They are required to supply then with necessities. The colonists didn't appreciate this and flat out refused. -
Declaratory Act
The Declaratory Act was an act of the Parliament of Great Britain. It was accompanied the repeal of the Stamp Act. The colonists ignored this act because they were celebrating the repeal of the Stamp Act. -
Townshend Act
The Townshend Act put taxes on glass, paper, paint, tea, and lead. This led the colonists to protest. They called for boycotts. People started smuggling illegal goods into the colonies. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston soldiers were coming to land when the colonists started throwing objects at them. The soldier got angry and 5 people were killed in the town square. -
Communities of Correspondence
Network of communication of passing on news for Britain's activity in the colonies. Sometimes, the publisher makes the British look worse than they already are so the colonists would join in on the war. -
Boston Tea Party
The colonists attacked the British and dumped tea into the Boston Harbor. This caused the port to get closed and the British united against the colonists. -
Tea Act
This act made tea cheaper but the money belonged to England and East Indies. This caused the Boston Tea Party. The colonists attacked the British and dumped the tea into the harbor. -
Intolerable Act
The Boston Port was closed. That severely limited the town meetings. This caused protests and the colonist's military being formed. -
First Continental Congress
The colonists were given rights to write congress laws. The members were elected by the colonists. Members of the colony government were formed. -
Second Continental Congress
The colonists established the continental army. George Washington was leading the army of men. The Olive Branch was offered. But war was declared. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
1000 men marched up a hill and got ready for battle. British marched up but was getting killed. The British gone up three times. The colonists ended up loosing but because of lack of ammunition. -
Shot Heard Around the World
Colony men started organizing armies. When the British attempted to sneak into the colonies and take weapons, somebody yelled " British are coming", the shots began. There was this one shot that was accidentally fired called the Shot Heard Around the World. -
Thomas Paine's Common Sense
Common Sense challenged the authority of the British government and monarchy. It was the first document to openly ask for independence from Great Britain.
