  • Proclamation of 1763

    The proclamation was signed by King George III of England. It Prohibited any English settlement west of the Appalachian mountains. It made those already settled in those regions to return east.
  • Stamp Act 1764

    The Stamp Act was used by Parliament imposing the first direct tax on the colonies. It was the first time in 150 years that the Americans will pay tax not to their own local legislatures in American but directly to England. All printed materials were taxed. To name a few newspapers,pamphlets,bills,legal documents,licenses,almanacs,dice, and playing cards.
  • Sugar Act of 1764

    Sugar Act of 1764
    The Sugar Act was used by Parliament to pay for the war debt from the French and Indian war. It was also used to help pay for the expenses of running the colonies and newly acquired territories. It also prohibited the importation of all foreign rum.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    The English parliament passded the Townshend Revenue Acts, taxes on the colonists to pay for the costs of administering and protecting the colonies. Things taxed were paper,tea,glass,lead,and paints.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre started because a mob harassed British soldiers who then fired their muskets pointblank into the crowd. They killed 3 instantly. Mortally wounding two others and injuring six.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    A group of men calling themselves the " Sons of Liberty" went to the Boston Harbor. They were dressed as Mohawk Indians. They boarded 3 different ships, the Beaver, the Eleanor and the Dartmouth. They dumped 45 tons of tea into the Boston Harbor.

    The Intolerable Acts were a series of laws sponsored by British prime minister Lord North and was used in 1774 in response to the Boston Tea Party.
  • Boston Port Act

    Boston Port  Act
    The port of Boston was closed in 1774 until the price of the dumped tea was recovered. The capital of Massachusetts was moved to Salem and made Marblehead the offical port of entry for the Massachusetts colony.

    Massachusetts Regulating Act
    They made all law officers subject to appointment by the royal governor and banned all town meetings that didn't have approval of the royal governor.
  • Impartial Administration of Justice Act

    Impartial Administration of Justice Act
    On the same day as the Massachusetts Regulating Act. The Impartial Administration of Justice Act also happened. This act allowed the royal governor of a colony to make trails to other colonies or even to England.
