French and Indian War
War fought between France and Britain that lasted untill 1763. They fought over land and control of the fur trade. The British ended up winning the war and as a result got possession of the Mississippi River, land east of the Mississippi River, and parts of what is today Canada. -
Treaty of Paris
Ended the French and Indian war. Gave Britian controll of all territory east of the Mississippi and Canada. -

Sugar Act
All sugar and molasses coming into the colonies were taxed. Paid for British troops used during the French and Indian war. -
Stamp Act
Printed items required to have a stamp saying tax had been paid.
Many items were taxed. Newspapers, Pamphlets, Licenses, Legal Documents, and Playing Cards. -
Sons of liberty
It was formed by Samuel Adams. The original purpose was to protest the Stamp Act. People protested against taxes. They sometimes used intimidation and physical violence to achieve their goals. -
Declaration act
It was an Act of the Parliament of Great Britain, which accompanied the repeal of the Stamp Act 1765. The declaration stated that the Parliament's authority was the same in America as in Britain. -
Townsend act
More items were taxed and the colonists werent happy about it. Imported glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea were taxed. -
Boston Massacre
Argument between soldiers guarding custom house and crowd. 5 were killed during this event. Included Crispus Attucks. Used as propaganda to increase hatred of British soldiers. -

Formed to allow the colonies to communicate with each other. Spread revolutionary actions -
Intolerable Act
The Intolerable Acts were passed in spring 1774, and helped cause the American Revolution. Parliament passed the Tea Act with the goal of aiding the struggling British East India Company. -
Tea Acts
New act, lowered price of tea but required colonists to buy it from the East India Company. -
Boston Tea Party
Three ships were anchored in Boston Harbor. Ordered by governor to unload cargo of tea. Threatened by colonist, told not to unload. At night, patriots dressed as Native Americans boarded the ships and threw 90,000 lbs. of tea overboard. -
Lexington and Concord
The Battles of Lexington and Concord were the first military engagements of the American Revolutionary War. The battles marked the outbreak of open armed conflict between the Kingdom of Great Britain and thirteen of its colonies on the mainland of British America.
