    The cotton gin was a revolutionary machine. Before the invention of the Cotton Gin, cotton had to be picked by hand. The cotton gin was invented by Eli Whitney. It also allowed the mass production of cotton, also leading to the need of more slaves.

    Missouri Compromise
    The Missouri compromise was created to try to balance power between slave and free states. It allowed slavery in Missouri, but prohibited slavery in Maine. It prohibited slavery in the lousiana Territory north of the 36° 30´ latitude line but it was later marked unconstitutional. This built tension between sides, escalating towards the need for war.

    The Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass was written by former slave and orator Frederick Douglass. This narrative included the hardships of slavery, the drepivation of basic human rights such as communications, education, and overall human qualities. It exposed the truth to everyone, and allowed northeners to gather hatred towards slavery, and it also followed a negative reaction from the south. This book helped lead to war because it arose the cruelty of slavery.

    The free soil party was a short lived campaign. It was mostly started by Repubkicans. Their main objective was to help diminish the institution of slavery. They tried removing laws opposing slaves, which angered the south. This helped build tension for the war.

    The compromise of 1850 was passed to help satisfy both the north and the south. It made California a free state and prohibited slavery in D.C but allowed the passing of 5 pro slavery acts, including the Fugitive Slave Act. This helped lead to war because it finally made everyone choose a side and abolitionists were against the new acts passed because it put everyone at risk.

    The fugitve slave Act was passed in 1850, along with 4 other pro slavery acts. It was also created to satisfy the north. It was part of the compromise of 1850. This specific Act helped lead to war because it angered northeners because they didnt support the idea of being forced to deal with slavery, and help it continue further by capturing slaves.
