Took part in the first Congress on Scientific Philosophy
Hempel took part in the first ever Congress on scientific philosophy in 1929. It is here that Hempel will meet many colleagues that will play a part in his future. Most notably Carnap, Hempel was so impressed with this first meeting that he was convinced to move to Vienna were he took three courses, and then qualified as a teacher in the secondary school nearby. -

Published "Studies in the Logic of Explanation"
Published in volume 15 in the Journal of Philosophy of science. Writes about deductive-nomological explanation and how a fact is the deduction of a statement or the "explanandum". Explanandum are the statements we want to prove factual. These along with the premises or the explanans. These explanans are scientific laws that we hold true. For this to work the explanans must be true. -

Hempel was interviewed for the first time ever. This interview conducted by Richard Nolan, is a notable time in this scientists history because it was the first and only interview ever conducted. Which was first transcribed in Italian for the original post. This interview is where the majority of the information about Hempel career was purposed from.
