The Declaration of Human Rights is signed, which promoted respect and freedom. All people were to be thought of as equal. -

Canadian government announces a compensation package
The Canadian government provides thousands of native residential schools a $1.9 billion compensation benefit. This would help with the abuse levels at some schools, and encourage the survivors to keep fighting. -
Conservative Government releases an important Action Plan
The Conservative government releases an action plan to reduce greenhouse gasses and air pollution. This plan was said to be highly beneficial, and would reduce 150 megatonnes of greenhouse gas emissions by the year of 2020, and cut air pollution in half by 2015. -
The Convention on Cluster Munitions
December 2008. Canada signs the Convention on Cluster Munitions in Norway. By attending the conference and signing, it banned cluster weapons and their production, use and transfer. -
Canada signs a Free Trade agreement.
April 2009. Canada signs a free trade agreement between the European Free trades Association. Places of free trade involved Iceland, Norway, and Switzerland. This was important to for Canada to maintain economic relations.
