Growing up
When Anne Frank was 3 years old, Adolf Hitler took power in Germany. On her 13th birthday, she started writing in her diary. Adolf Hitler and the Nazis wanted to rule all of Europe. On September 1st, 1939, the German army attacked Poland. Great Britan and France declared war on Germany to defend Polland and try to stop Hitler. World War 2 had begun. -
Nazi's Invade Holland
Then the Nazis came to Holland and attacked. So Anne Frank went into hiding when she was 13 years old. She was hiding in an apartment building, and the people who lived in it went up to the attic every day and gave her food. When she was hiding she had a diary and wrote in it all day, every day. She wrote in it about what she was going through. And now her diary is published in a book. -

When her family was discovered
After 25 months in hiding, Anne Frank and the seven others in the secret attic were discovered by the Gestapo, the German secret police, who had learned about the hiding place from an anonymous tipster. -
Death
at about 10:30 a.m. the police burst down the door and they were all arrested and sent to a concentration camp. And that's where she got typhus. -
When was her Diary published
The diary was published in 1947. Het Achterhuis (The Secret Annex) was the title of the book.
