Born - Personal
This is the day that I was born which makes this event one of the most important in my life because it is how I am here now. -
ECMO - Personal
ECMO is a way to provide both cardiac and respiratory support oxygen to patients whose heart and lungs are so severely diseased or damaged that they can no longer serve their function. At the time that I had ECMO the procedure was experimental which meant that it could work or not. This is important to me because it helped me to live. -
My Sister was Born - Personal
My sister Meg was born and is important to me because she is my best friend. If she was not here today, I would not be who I am. -
Started School - Personal
Started Kindergarten, This was a very important part of my life because it was what started my love for school and choosing to become a teacher. -
Started Middle School - Professional
Middle School is such an awkward time in a persons life, but it was also a time in which I grew a lot as a person. I began to branch out and make new friends that I have kept in contact with to this day. -
People to People Leadership Summit - Personal and Professional
This leadership summit is for students that have been nominated by a teacher. The students that went to this summit were seen as leaders in their school and learned while at the summit how to become a better leader. This took place in Los Angeles, California. While there I went to Disney, Universal, Hollywood, and Santa Monica Pier. I can use this in my classroom to teach my students about other communities inside the United States. -
Got my first job - Professional
I worked during the summer as the housing secretary at Nashville Auto Diesel College. This was my first job and it helped me to develop the skills needed to work with others as a team or getting along with people that I did not really like. This was a starting point for helping me to get into the working world. It will help me to be able to explain some of the ways a community works from first hand experience. -
Haiti Mission Trip - Personal
This is important to me because it was my first trip out of the country , my first mission trip, and first time traveling without my parents. I went to Haiti with an organization called New Missions. At the time, a group of my friends had a sponsor child in Haiti and we got to meet him and his mom while on this trip. During our time in Haiti, we held a VBS in two villages, helped fix up the schools, and did a rice feeding. This trip definitely changed my view on life. -
Granddaddy passed away - Personal
My Granddaddy was one of the greatest people I have ever known. When he passed away it left somewhat of a hole in me that I tried to cover up with doing things and hiding it, but the way he lived his life is a model for me to live mine. -
Created my first Resume - Professional
This happened during one of my business classes in high school. This was important to me because it helped me learn for the future how to create a Resume.
This has influenced my professional life because I had/have to have a Resume for past and future jobs.
This could help me to show my students the importance of creating documents well and what it means for getting a job, -
Received the Girl Scout Gold Award - Personal and Professional
It is the highest award that a Girl Scout can earn. You must have 80 hours of work for the project. My project was a collection of items and informing people about the needs of the mission in Haiti that I went with. This is a very important accomplishment in my life. It has helped me to gain insight into what other people need that I take advantage for like shoes or pencils for school. This could help me show real life experience to students of how to impact different communities from this far. -
Graduated from High School - Professional
Graduating from high school was one of the first events that happended that helped me get to be more of an adult. Once graduating high school I have started to support myself more through jobs. Being able to graduate from high school has helped my professional life through allowing me to gain a diploma and gain more respect from people hiring me. I hope to inspire my students to follow their dreams and be the best citizen they can in their lifetime. -
Began College - Professional
I started school at CN, which was important for my whole family because I am a first generation college student. The only people in my family that have been to college are cousins. This event put me on the track to start a career that I am going to enjoy the rest of my life. When I come to teach social studies, I hope to be able to use my experiences to help reinforce some of the concepts being taught. -
Created my first lesson plan - Professional
Creating my first lesson plan was stressful especially because it was for a class that did not teach me how to write one before I had to do so. This important to me because I had to learn about what I should include in my lesson and what might be most effective for my students. This is important to my professional life because it was the first step I took to actually learn about how to teach students. This will effect my teaching of social studies by giving my lessons more meaning. -
Cut my fingers using electric headge trimmer - Personal
This event was the first time that I had to have stitches since I could remember having to have them. This was one of the weirdest days of my life. -
First Road trip with Friends - Personal
This was important be it was a trip that I went on with just my friends and it helped me to become more of independent adult. I was the oldest of the people on the trip, so I felt some responsibility for the others especially since they had just graduated high school. We went to the beach for a week and stayed in a condo. This was a great experience. -
My Sister started school at CN - Personal
My sister started school at CN in Fall 2011 as a biochemistry major. She is a very important person to me and is my best friend. -
South Africa Mission Trip - Personal and Professional
I went to South Africa with the religion department this past May. This trip has impacted me so much. I never really new how to love a person that I just met, the way that Christ would, until this trip. I consider this a professional event along with the personal because it can be used as a jumping off point for learning about different people & cultures around the world. I will take into consideration the students cultures more in my classroom as well.
