In 330 the Emperor moved the capital to the city of Byzantine because it was protected by water
From 3 sides. It flourished because many trade paths connected at that point and they harbor was one of the biggest. There the emperor recreated the capital and moved all the royals there. -

General Belisarius military campaigns
For his efforts, Belisarius was rewarded by Justinian with the command of all land and sea attacks against the Vandal Kingdom. Hagia Sophia completed
Justinian rebuilt the church in hopes to make Constantinople great again. It's arching dome improved on the earlier roman arches and buildings. The interior was filled with marble and silk. -

Emperor Alexios asked for help from the pope to fight against the Muslims, and even though the pope and him were enemies for a long time, the pope said he would help. Pope Urban II gives rise to the Crusades by calling all Christans in Europe to war against Muslims in order to reclaim the Holy Land, Jerusalem. -

The fourth crusade fought at Egypt, which was the base of Muslim power, but never reached its goal. Instead it turned and started to attack Constantinople. During this attack the Crusaders looted the city and took the riches. -

Fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Turks
The Turks entered the city at sunrise from the San Romano and killed anyone they found, no matter if they were a women or an elderly person. They rampaged through Constantinople till they got to the piazza five miles, where the climbed the tower and cut down the flag of St. Mark and stole the flag of the emperor.
