Emperor Justinian
Justinian became the greatest Emperor of Byzantine in 527 AD. He made one set of laws for everyone in his empire to abide by, called the Code of Justinian. He conquered lands around the Mediterranean Sea and the city of Constantinople was the largest and richest in the world. -

Empress Theodora
Justinian married Theodora before he became emperor. She convinced him to stay in Constantinople when the people rioted, saving the Emperor's throne. -

Hagia Sophia
The Hagia Sophia is a church in Constantinople built by Justinian in 532. The people rioted and burned it down but Justinian ordered it to be rebuilt. Its mosaics are famous and it became the center of a whole group of Christians.
