The first chewing gum
John B. Curtis made the first chewing gum we know and called it Pure Spruce Gum. He sold flavored gums, which became more and more popular. -
The gum was listed as a patent
People began to invent machines to make it and worked on bettering the chewing gum's taste and make it last for a longer period of time while being chewed. -
The first bubble gum
The first bubble gum was invented by Frank Fleer in 1906.
It was called Blibber-Blubber gum but it was never actually sold because it wasn't tasty. -
The bubble gum became popular
Henry Fleer, Frank's son, and William Wringley added the mint and fruit flavors to the chewing gum. -
The gum become a problem
In a study conducted in 2000, it was found that over 250,000 were stuck to the ground in one London street alone!
