    Around 4000-5000 years ago in the Afghan region, there was one main ethnicity who spoke a type of language family native to western and southern Eurasia, and different religions that included the belief in many gods. During antiquity, there was one main ethnicity called the Achaemenids that were people from present day Iran. The language spoken in this area was Iranian. Many of the different religions here all had the same idea that there were gods that should be worshiped and believed in.

    In the 600s CE *ARAD invaders introduced the people to a new religion.
    The religion that they brought into Afghanistan was *ISLAM which is the current most popular religion there today.

    Turkmen that are a part of the *OTTOMAN EMPIRE, brought their language and religion to Afghanistan. Since then, *TURKMEN and *UZBEK are spoken widely in the north part of Afghanistan.

    Today in Afghanistan there is 1 main ethnicity, two common languages, and 1 main religion. There are many ethnicities but the main one is Pashtuns which make up about 42% of the population of contemporary Afghanistan. Some of the official languages of Afghanistan are Dari and Pashto as many Afghans are bilingual. The most popular religion in Afghanistan is Islam and around 99% of Afghans are muslims, however, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism have also made their mark in Afghanistan.
