Bryan's IB Future Projection Timeline

  • Introduction of CAS

Creativity, Action, Service recognized to be integral to learners' educational outcomes and introduced as part of the IB program.
  • Introduction of Middle Years Programme

Recognition of a need to develop a Pre-IB course that would prepare younger students to successfully move into the DP program.
  • IB Develops Learner Profile

Recognition of need to publish aim of IB program for individual learners. Integration of Learner Profile into all aspects of the IB program follows.
  • Evaluation framework moves away from IB exams

IB systematically moves away from traditional schooling assessment methods – high-stakes closed-book examinations - toward more application-based, open-book, problem solving case studies. We live in a world where access to knowledge is readily available for most students. Teaching students how and when to use the incredibly powerful technological tools at their fingertips becomes the priority over recall of knowledge/content.
  • IB Student Exchange / International-mindedness Programme

Introduction of international-mindedness program where as part of the DP, students are expected to spend time abroad with a partner school/student as a course-requirement. This is reciprocated later in the program. This is structured like a group IV project where students engage in an issue from a variety of perspectives, but across borders, so as to consider it with a truly global perspective.
  • Introduction of IB PC - Practicum Course - Option

As part of the DP program students would be required to take a PC course. The PC course is a move toward action-based problem-solving model whereby students work collaboratively across international borders to solve real-life problems. Teachers support the scaffolding of skills to empower students to take steps to solve said problems. Evaluation is in the form of a project paper or presentation, similar to those seen with IAs or the extended essay, rather than exam papers.
