Apocalypse
The apocalypse is the reason this whole journey was started -
Birth of the Boy
The son was born, giving the father a reason for living. -
The Mother's Death
The mother kills herself leaving the man and his son to fend for themselves. -
The Journey Starts
As the boy and man exit the cave the man realizes that they must start to go south because they will not survive the cold winter without warmth. -
The First Encounter
The first encounter the man and the boy have with other humans in the book comes when there is a convoy of men on a truck and one of them finds the man and the boy, the man is forced to shoot the man from the truck when he grabs the boy and puts a knife to his throat. -
The Cellar of People
At one point in the story the man and the boy walk into a cellar and see people with their legs cut off, it is implied that their limbs are being eaten and the wounds are being treated, so the meat does not get "spoiled". -
The Cellar of Food
the man and the boy venture into another cellar and this one happens to be filled with food and supplies that will be very useful to them later on down the road. they only stay for a couple of nights then move on their way further south. -
The Baby
a few days later the man and the boy see three people walking down the road, two man and a woman, the woman was pregnant. when the people are gone they go and investigate the camp. the boy notices that they were cooking the baby over the fire the night before. -
The New House
the man and the boy see a house one day, it is unoccupied and they stay in it for a couple of nights. -
The Beach
When the man and the boy finally get to what they thought was going to be there final destination they realize that it is to cold and they must keep going. -
The Boat
The man spots a boat just off shore of the beach and decides that he must swim out there and see if there are any supplies on the boat. one of the only useful things he finds is a flare gun with eight shots in it. -
The Boy Gets Sick
The boy suddenly comes down with a sickness and is unable to move for days, the father becomes very worried. he does get better in a couple of days even though the father is still worried. -
The Thief
One day the boy and the man go on a walk down the beach, when they come back all of their stuff is gone. the begin to track the thief by his foot steps in the sand and continue to follow that path. when they catch up to him the man takes all of his stuff back and makes the man strip naked and give them all of his clothes so he feels the same way they did -
The Man in the Window
The man and the boy are walking through a twon when another man begins to fire arrows at them through a window. The father then procedes to fire the flare gun at him, catching him on fire, but not before he was grazed by an arrow on his calf -
The Father's Death
A few days later the father passes away leaving the boy alone and helpless. -
The Savior
Soon after the father died a man came walking down the road and said that he would take the boy back to the family he was living with, he the went to wrap the father in blankets and lay him to rest.
