Tudor

The War of the Roses, which had been going on for many years before, finally ends and Henry VIII is crowned king of England beginning the Tudor Era.

Elizabeth I

Queen Elizabeth was crowned after the beheading of her sister who killed all of the protistant believers in England. Elizabeth raigned for 45 years and was the first queen to rule alone in England.

Hamlet

Written by William Shakespeare, Hamlet is known as one of the greatest tradgidies in literature. It takes place in Denmark in the 1200's.

Romantic Period

The Romantic Period in British Literature included the famous six poets: William Blake, Percy Shelly, William Wordsworth, Samuel Coleridge and Lord Byron. This period was the first time people focused on emotions and nature. Also, new ideas for stories, such as scary stories evolved out of this time period.

Written during WWI, it is a great example of how writers began to change their ideas of a great novel.

Lord of the Rings

Written by J,K. Rowling, this story became an overnight sinsation. Following the tale of a teenage boy named Harry, this novel combined the life of a teenager with the interesting magical realism technique.
