  • Navigation Acts

    Navigation Acts
    Parliament passed these laws to ensure that only England benefitted for colonial trade. The outcome of these, were smuggling goods that were traded with other countries illegally. Colonists also illegally shipped goods on ships from other countries.
  • Proclamation fo 1763

    Proclamation fo 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 set the Appalchian Mountains as the western border to the colonies. This act made colonists, especially speculators who had alread bought some of this land, very angry because they won and bought the land but the weren't allowed to settle on their new land.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    This act lowered the tax on imported sugar, hoping that the colonists would pay the tax instead of smuggling. It also allowed officers to seize goods from smugglers without going to court. This makes the colonists very angry.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act taxed all printed materials including playing cards, newspapers, and wills. The colonists declared "taxation without representation".

    Townshend Acts
    This put taxes on glass, tea, and paper. This makes the colonists very angry and they delcare "taxation without representation".
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    This allowed the British East India Company sole control of the trade for tea. This act lead to the Boston Tea Party.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    The Quebec Act gave land west of the Appalachian Mountains and the Ohio Valley to Quebec. This makes the colonists very angry because some of them already owned land there, and Paliament was just giving it to Quebec.
  • Coercive (Intolerable) Acts

    Coercive (Intolerable) Acts
    This closed Boston Harbor until Massachusetts colonists paid for the ruined tea. It also banned most town meetings in New England. Due to this, Boston colonists couldn't import items that came in by ship.
