Suspects Identified
The following Thursday after the bombing, police released images of the bombing suspects, later identified as brothers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. -
MIT Officer Killed
The suspects shoot MIT Officer Sean A. Collier to death in his car on campus. -
Car Hijack and Police Shootout
They then hijack a Mercedes and hold the owner at gunpoint. The owner later escapes at a gas station. The police catch onto them in Watertown, where over 200 rounds are fired and grenades and other explosives are launched at the police. Tamerlan Tsarnaev is severely shot and later pronounced dead and Dzhokhar escapes. -
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Captured
Police find Dzhokhar holing up in a boat in the backyard of a Watertown resident later in the evening. It takes them over two hours to confirm he is in the boat and retrieve him.
