    First off a Fable is a short story that predominately includes animals as the characters to convey a moral. Now the word Aesop is actually the name of a Greek storyteller, so Aesop’s Fables are just stories that were believed to be written by the Greek storyteller Aesop.

But one theme/moral has stayed consistent and that is don't take food from strangers. Children in the 1800's were taught this by Snow White when the old lady offers her an apple which in the end we find out was poisonous.

Unlike the nice version of the story we have today, in the 1800's poor little red gets eaten by the wolf. This story was to teach the moral of never to wander off the path or else bad things will happen.

    Tom Sawyer was written in 1876 by Mark Twain. The major themes in this novel are maturity and growing up like many other novels in this era for children such as "Little Women".
