Shaquille O'Neal was born on March 6th 1972 at Newark, New Jersey. His mother was Lucille O'Neal and his Father was Phillip Harrison. -
Into to basketball
Shaq first was introduced to basketball in the 80's as a kid -
Sophomore
Shaq starts his Sophomore year at Cole High School. Shaq was in a military family, meaning he was always moving around. But from 1987 to 1989 he went to Cole High school(sophomore to senior). While there, Coach Robert G. Cole coached shaq his junior and senior year. He was 6' 8'' and 230 his sophomore year as well. -
Junior
Shaq's junior year, he was 6' 10'' and 250. This marks the first year when Robert Cole coached him. In the summer between his Sophomore and junior year, Shaq quotes,"One day I realized that all those little misses when I got fouled would at least be 2 points if I dunked." This is when Shaqs career toke a huge turn for the better -
Senior
Shaq walked into his senior year 6' 11'' 260 and was ready to play. This was the year Shaq won the state finals for his high school. He blocked 22 shots in a game, and had 52 points in another. He averaged 32 points, 22 rebounds, and 8 blocked shots. -
College freshman
During his freshman year at LSU, he played 32 games had a 57.3% field-goal %, had a 55.6% free-throw %, had 445 points, averaging 13.9 a game, 12 average rebounds a game, 61 assists, 115 blocked shots and 38 steals. -
College sophomore
During his sophomore year at LSU, he played 28 games, averaged 62.8 field-goals, averaged 63.8 free-throws, had 774 points, averaging 27.6, averaged 14.7 rebounds, 45 assists, 140 blocked shots, and 41 steals. -
College junior
During his last college year, his junior year at LSU, he played 30 games, averaged 61.5 field-goals, 52.8 free-throws, had 772 points, averaging 24.1 points a game, averaged 14 rebounds, had 46 assists, 157 blocked shots, and 29 steals. He decided to go into professional basketball a year early because the refs were letting stuff go in games because of his size and weight saying,"He can take it". But the truth is after so many games and hits, it takes a toll. -

In the 1992 NBA draft, Shaq was drafted 1st over all by the Orlando Magic. -

He averaged 23.4 points a game, 13.9 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, and had a 56.2% in field-goal %. The 3 season before the Magic had shaq they went 18-64,31-51,21-61 for their record. But in the seasons they had Shaq they went 41-41,50-32,57-25, and 60-22 for their record -
