By 2010, Boko Haram had caused much havoc around Africa that it seemed nothing could surprise citizens anymore until this event occurred. In the state of Bauchi, 50 militants attacked a prison. It seemed like a small number, however this group managed to let out 700 inmates while killing 5 people. Kidnapping
This event was one that everyone in the world heard about, and were all equally as disgusted. When Abubakar Shekau came into power, he didn’t waste time planning his hostile attacks. In April, he had abducted 276 teenage girls from a boarding school in Borno. Some managed to escape, while other girls futures were put in Shekau’s hands. He made an announcement in May saying that he will sell them in the black market, making the remark that “Allah” said he should sell women.
