In the 2000 there was plenty of social media, but not nearly as close as the ones today. The strive for the perfect body was less prevalent because there wasn't as much pressure or stress. -
Creation of VS pink
Victoria Secret created a clothing line called Pink for young teenage girls and they didn't carry "plus" sizes. This caused young women to feel bad about their body shape thinking that since they don't carry specific sizes then they weren't "good" enough as a women. -
Iphone
In 2007 the first iphone was released which made social media sites more accessable. -
Instagram
Instagram started in 2010 which is a social media site where you can post pictures and people can like them. This started a riot for people who have eating disorders because it became in excessive thing to look at instagram and compare yourself to other people and their body image. -
Victoria Secret Angel modeling
Every year in December there is a Victoria Secret Angel modeling show where girls show off their body in VS clothing, swimwear, and underwear/bras. This fashion show made young girls feel terrible about themself and put an image in their head about what a "women" should look like. -
Tinder
Tinder was an app that was released that made judging appearance easier and you could swipe right or left on whether or not you thought they were hot or not hot. This made people feel badly about themselves and created tension and problems that led to some people having eating disorders in order to get that "perfect" look.
