Water
Water: how would you obtain it and be sure it was clean? People would probably try their bests to move towards water sources, and in the mean time try to collect water from the rainfall. Once reaching the point of filtering the water, there are different ways to do so. One way is to pour it through a chamber of differing density materials, to eventually take out some materials. This would probably be done after all the water is collected, and then made sure it's kept in an air tight container. -
Food storage
Food: how and where would it come from? How would you prepare it? How would you store it? Food would likely be stored underground, in areas that are securely sealed off as to prevent pests from getting to them. A lot of the foods stored would probably end up being dried meats and fruits, if there are no good packaged foods left. They would be dried, then stored in jars in the hole. -
Lighting
Lighting in your house? The lighting used would probably be fire-based, since we can't use electricity. Lanterns and candles would be used besides natural lighting, and our eyes would probably learn to adapt to less light once again. -
Appliances
Consider all the appliances in your house: washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and others and its impact on the time they save so you can do fun things. I think it would be a struggle without those things, but in the long run it's probably better that way. People have survive up until those inventions, so I don't see why we couldn't. If we can't I think those who truly find it unbearable will think up new ways to do them, or improve upon the old without electricity. -
Heating and Cooling
Heating and cooling your house? There would definitely be a need for fireplaces once again if we had no electricity. Making sure the area is well insulated is also a key factor in this. Keeping the house cool on a hot day would mean something different though, and it's a bit harder. This would involve only opening windows at night, cooking outdoors, blocking windows, and even planting trees to cover the house. -
Daily life and Recreation
Impact on daily life and recreation? Well, I feel like my life would be a lot more calm without electricity. I would certainly miss video games and watching shows and movies, but a lot of what I enjoy is physical arts. I would still be able to do most of the arts I do today, and I wouldn't have to worry about anything extra. I could also still spend my time reading, as I do today. There would probably be a need for much more manual labor than I do now, but I think it would be worth it. -
Communication
Communication: how would it change? Communication would definitely regress back hundred of years. Though we would be knowledgeable of the ways to communicate, we would still have to rely on letters, or in-person message senders since we couldn't actually use those methods. If I wanted to reach out to one of my friends, the only way I can imagine that happening is by physically visiting them, which can be inconvenient, but I think I'd have plenty of time on my hands anyways. -
Transportation
Would transportation change? No red lights/green lights...yikes? I don't think people would be able to use cars for much longer than a few years at most actually. It wouldn't really make sense for there to be able to more gas produced for the cars when there's no electricity to power the machines that extract and deliver it. Most would probably either hike, bike, or ride horses around. It would definitely be cool to see the return of horses be a thing, even wagons too. Just super practical.
